Electric In Slab Heating
Are you building or renovating? Heating concrete slabs with electric in slab floor heating installations is a great way to heat a kitchen or large living area!
The heat radiates from the floor, giving you a comfortable warmth that won’t blow dust around like conventional heaters. Allergen sufferers can breathe a sigh of relief!
There are three possible ways to install electric underfloor heating: directly in the slab, in the screed or under tile mats such as our X Mats.
Being highly efficient, electric in slab heating costs won’t break the bank; in fact, they’ll save you money compared to many heating systems.
Installation In Slab
In slab underfloor heating consists of a heating cable that is typically fixed to the top layer of the slab reinforcement, prior to the slab being poured. The heating cables heat up the slab, warming the floor covering above. Cables are then laid on the top mesh in about 30-40 mm of concrete.
The system will run during off-peak hours and store the energy (heat) that will then be used during peak hours. This feature of the installation helps in managing energy costs and maximise the efficiency of the system.
The in slab system is usually installed in new construction before the slab is poured.
